Hair

When Kinsey was born she had tons of black hair. It has slowly gotten lighter and lighter. Now it is long and thin with adorable curls in it. And when the sun hits it has golden highlights. She will let me comb it because for months after her bath Dad would give her a little cookie if she let him comb her hair. She never sits really still, but we keep the knots out. She hates to get her hair washed (probably just the water in the eyes problem, but I'm embarrassed to say she smells sometimes because of the unclean hair), but at least she doesn't get food in it anymore. She will let me put it in pigtails, or braid it a little now. There was a long, long time that she would pull anything out of her hair even if it meant pulling out a hunk of hair. Thank goodness we are passed that. Now she just has to worry about Kyler pulling out hunks of her hair.

Kyler was also born with a lot of dark hair, but it has never been curly or as abundant as Kinsey's hair. Must take after Mom. His hair is also getting lighter ... maybe it is the summer sun affecting both kids. He really needs a little haircut, but I'm afraid to do it. The logistics of cutting a wiggly boy's hair ... yikes. Besides, should I trim it or buzz it? -- so many important decisions. I have avoided cutting Kinsey's hair yet, but she can get away with it being a girl. Kyler likes to try to comb his hair or my hair in imitation of what he sees me doing. And it usually has peanut butter in it.
