The porch

Now that we are on the second floor and the deck will stay much drier and cleaner, we cleared it off for the kids to play on. They love it like they were outside. It is like adding another tiny room to our house. We have trees blocking the view (and creating privacy), but they can hear things, feel the wind, watch the wind chimes. Even Kyler can open and close the screen door, although he will also just hit at it if I don't watch him. Kyler has only thrown toys off about twice (thank goodness he hasn't realized how "fun" that would be). We have the backseat of the van set up like a couch and there is another kid size folding chair, and then a little bit of space to push things and wander around in. Kinsey and I read stories out on the deck sometimes. Kyler loves being outside; he also just loves going in and then out, then in, then out ...

Maybe when it gets cold out again we can try putting out some sort of bird feeder and see if that would attract anything. They'd love looking out the window and seeing birds. Well, and scaring them away too.
